Ready to join us for your first Aikido class? Here's everything you need to know to before you visit.

Join us for your first class, where you'll get a taste of the art and philosophy of Aikido in a welcoming and supportive environment. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some martial arts experience, this class is designed to help you get started. You'll learn basic techniques, meet our friendly instructors, and discover the joy of movement and connection. Come as you are, and take the first step on your Aikido journey with us!

FAQs

  • We suggest rolling in up to 30 minutes before class starts. That way, you'll have plenty of time to slip into your training gear, wrap up any last-minute registration or payments, and even lend a hand in getting the dojo ready for an awesome practice session. See you on the mat!

  • Our dojo is located right in the heart of Manhattan, doesn't get more convenient than this.

    1. Head to Penn Square or Herald Square MTA stations. They're both super close.

    2. Make your way to the corner of 7th Avenue and 30th Street. Almost there!

    3. Look for the entrance to 151 W 30th between 6th & 7th Ave.

    4. Hop in the elevator and take a ride up to the 6th floor.

    5. You’ll see the Balance Arts Center. Walk right in, and you're here!

  • Not at all! Whether you're a total beginner or a seasoned martial artist, everyone's welcome in our NYC Aikido Kokikai classes. Come as you are and discover it for yourself.

  • Just slip into comfy workout gear for your first class—make sure to ditch the bling and accessories, though. They've got changing rooms if you're coming straight from work or happy hour. Shoes will come off before you hit the mat. Once you become a regular, you'll want to snag yourself a proper uniform.

  • Our classes are currently geared towards teens and adults, so whether you're a seasoned seeker of zen or a curious first-timer, you'll find your groove here!
